Site Preparation and Grading
Site Preparation and Grading in Bozeman
Before a footing is poured or a slab is placed, the ground has to be shaped, drained, and compacted to plan. Leavemealonebox strips topsoil, runs cut and fill, and takes a raw Gallatin County parcel from rough grade to a finished, build-ready subgrade. When a concrete crew is waiting on a pad, we mobilize a dozer, an excavator, and a compactor fast so your schedule holds.
Why Grading Matters
- Drainage first. Positive slopes away from the structure keep water off foundations and out of basements, which is the whole point of a good grade.
- A stable pad. Structural fill placed in controlled lifts and compacted to 95 percent of maximum dry density will not settle under a slab or driveway.
- Set to plan. We work to the engineer’s grading plan so pad elevations and drainage slopes match what the inspector expects.
Our Process
We strip and stockpile topsoil, move dirt with GPS grade control to balance cut and fill, then compact the subgrade in lifts and verify density against a standard Proctor test. Silt fence and inlet protection go up where stormwater rules apply. On a rush pad off Baxter Lane, we can often finish the prep in a single push.
